Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI team for tour
Linkin Park and Thirty Seconds to Mars are teaming for The Carnivores Tour, a 25-city trek that launches Aug. 8 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Jared Leto, who won an Oscar for best supporting actor Sunday, capping an award season of triumphs for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, represented his band Mars at a press conference Tuesday in Los Angeles to announce the tour. Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda also appeared at the multi-media event staged in MILK Studios.
AFI will be a special guest on the tour.
Shinoda said of the tour's name, "Carnivores is a metaphor that is meant to convey an appetite for something visceral and substantive, and I feel that's exactly the hunger this tour will feed."
Jared Leto added, "We are so excited to join our friends on this epic journey. It's going to be the adventure of a lifetime."
Tickets go on sale Friday at LiveNation.com and the bands' websites. For fan club presale details, see lpunderground.com and thirtysecondstomars.com.
