Premiere: Don Williams covers Haggard for 'Reflections'

On his new album Reflections, out this week, Don Williams covers a song by another Country Music Hall of Famer.

Sing Me Back Home originally was a No. 1 country hit for Merle Haggard in 1968. Paste BN is premiering an in-the-studio performance of the song in a video directed by Bill Filipiak.

Williams, 74, calls Haggard's "powerful stuff," adding that "the version that was sent to me wasn't Merle's recording of it. I just thought it was a great song, a unique story from the perspective of the fella who was watching his friend take his final walk to his death."

Reflections, Williams' follow-up to 2012's acclaimed And So It Goes, also contains songs by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Jesse Winchester and Steve Wariner. The album was produced by Garth Fundis, who worked with Williams on classic '70s and '80s hits like Tulsa Time and Good Ole Boys LIke Me.
