Dude! Jeff Bridges & The Abiders embark on summer tour
He's an actor, a musician and, to legions of The Big Lebowski cultists, The Dude (or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing).
Jeff Bridges and his band, The Abiders, are hitting the road this summer for more than a dozen dates that will include a debut East Coast swing. His daughter Jessie Bridges will open select dates.
Bridges and his group have been performing widely since the 2011 release of his self-titled album on Blue Note Records.
Bridges and Sheryl Crow will co-host and perform at the June 26 all-star Austin City Limits benefit concert honoring the series' 40th anniversary. The show, also starring Bonnie Raitt, Gary Clark Jr., Alabama Shakes, Kris Kristofferson, T Bone Burnett, Robert Earl Keen, Doyle Bramhall II, Jimmie Vaughan and others, will air as a two-hour special, Austin City Limits Celebrates 40 Years, Oct. 3.
Bridges won an Oscar for portraying a fading music legend in 2009's Crazy Heart. He released his debut, Be Here Soon, in 2000. He stars in sci-fi drama The Giver, opening Aug. 15.
