Song of the week: 'Bang Bang,' Jessie J

Jessie J and Ariana Grande may be singing like they're competing for a guy's attention in Bang Bang, out only a week and already guaranteed to be one of 2014's defining hits.

But the record's really a celebration of shared female firepower. With a handclap-propelled beat and a high-elasticity bass line, Bang Bang recalls the best of '70s and '90s vocal-group funk — and then Nicki Minaj comes in and mows everybody down like the machine-gun MC she is.

The track will appear on Jessie J's fall album and the deluxe version of Grande's My Everything, but why wait until then to get it?
