Morrissey reveals cancer scare
Singer Morrissey has been hospitalized frequently during the past 18 months. Now the former Smiths frontman says he has been treated for cancer.
In a Spanish-language interview with El Mundo , Morrissey, 55, says doctors have scraped cancerous tissues from his body four times.
"If I die, then I die," says the singer, who did not specify which type of cancer he has had. "And if I don't, then I don't. Right now I feel good."
In addition to the cancer scare, Morrissey says he has been diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, double pneumonia, food poisoning and a respiratory infection since early 2013. Those health issues have forced the cancellation of multiple concerts, including a tour of the USA.
In July, Harvest Records released Morrissey's first album in five years, called World Peace Is None of Your Business. The relationship between the singer and the label quickly turned rancorous, though, resulting in Morrissey's being dropped from the label and his album being removed from digital retailers and streaming services.
