George Strait to return to CMA Awards

George Strait may have retired from the road, but he'll perform at The 48th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville Nov. 5.

The Country Music Hall of Famer, who finished his farewell tour in Dallas in June, will play The CMA Awards for the 24th time, more than any other performer. He first appeared on the show in 1987, according to the CMA, singing All My Exes Live in Texas.

Strait is the CMA's reigning entertainer of the year. He has won the award three times and is nominated again this year. He is the most-nominated artist in CMA history, with 83 nominations.

Strait will join a slate of performers that includes Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry and Keith Urban. The show also will feature a couple of cross-genre duets: Ariana Grande with Little Big Town and Meghan Trainor with Miranda Lambert.

Presenters for the three-hour awards show will include Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler, Nashville star Connie Britton and former NFL quarterback and current Good Morning America correspondent Tim Tebow. Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale was previously announced as a presenter.

The 48th Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena Nov. 5 (CBS, 8 p.m. ET/PT).
