Dropkick Murphys' tour bus involved in fatal crash

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Dropkick Murphys' tour bus was involved in a fatal accident after the bus struck and killed a pedestrian north of Austin, the band wrote on its Facebook page.

Round Rock police confirmed that the accident took place around 3 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 35 here. No one from the band was hurt.

Following the accident, the Massachusetts-based Celtic punk band canceled its Sunday night show in Tulsa, Okla. It performed Saturday in San Antonio.

According to a post on the band's Facebook page, the Dropkick Murphys were en route to Dallas from San Antonio when a pedestrian "suddenly ran onto the highway" and its tour bus hit the man.

The pedestrian, a white man, was killed on the scene, the band said. Police are investigating whether the incident was a suicide.

The concert was canceled because the driver was "severely shaken up" and the bus was damaged, the Facebook page said.

"As much as it pains us to miss a show and we truly apologize for it, we'd like to stop and acknowledge that a man has lost his life. Please keep him and any family he might have in your prayers," the band said in its Facebook post.

The band is expected to continue its tour with a performance in Mexico City later this week.
