John Legend, Avicii are most Shazamed of 2014

Believe it or not, there was a time you could flip on the radio without hearing All About That Bass or Shake It Off.

That was this spring, when John Legend's chart-topping ballad All of Me was inescapable wherever you went. And clearly, many people wanted to know what they were hearing.

The R&B singer was the most popular artist in the USA on music identification app Shazam, and also had the most sought-after song in the States (All of Me). Worldwide, Avicii proved to be the most popular act, despite also having one of 2013's most Shazamed songs with EDM track Wake Me Up.

Newcomers Clean Bandit had the most tagged track globally with earworm Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne. Meanwhile, Shazam predicts British singer/songwriter James Bay, electro-pop trio Years & Years and Atlanta-based singer Raury could be some of the biggest hit-makers of 2015.
