Jason Aldean, Tidal team up for concert

After a string of recent hip-hop and R&B premieres, Tidal is making a play for country fans.

The Jay Z-helmed streaming service just announced an intimate acoustic concert with Jason Aldean, one of TIDAL's superstar shareholders, on June 11 in Nashville.

The concert was announced during this week's CMAs, Aldean fans can win tickets by completing an online entry form, with no Tidal registration required for entry.

If you can't make it to Nashville, the concert will also be streaming live on Tidal for subscribers, with video replay available once after the initial broadcast.

Tidal's lowest subscription rung is $9.99 per month (or $8.49 if you pre-pay six months), with high-fidelity streaming available for $19.99/mo.

This week's Aldean event is the latest livestreamed concert for Tidal, which recently presented shows from Jack White and Jay Z as well as streams of Prince's Baltimore Rally 4 Peace and this weekend's Hot 97 Summer Jam.

On the releases front, Tidal's promise of exclusive content from its celebrity associates has so far included Nicki Minaj and Beyonce's Feeling Myself video and Rihanna's American Oxygen premiere.

Aldean, the lone country star on stage at Jay Z's star-studded launch event in March, expressed his support for the streaming service in an interview with Harrisburg's Patriot News last month.

"I think the biggest misconception is that it's artists that are trying to make more money, which I can assure you is not the case," he said. "You can open a restaurant but if you give food away for free you're not going to be able to do business for very long."

Aldean had previously joined Taylor Swift in pulling his music from Spotify, one of Tidal's largest competitors.
