Chris Brown, Kendrick to play BET Awards


Chris Brown is set to Turn Up the Music at the BET Awards.

The hitmaking crooner will play the 15th annual awards show June 28 (BET, 8 p.m. ET/PT), airing live from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater. Kendrick Lamar, fresh off the chart-topping success of album To Pimp a Butterfly, will also perform.

Brown ties with Nicki Minaj as this year's most-nominated artists, and will compete for six honors including best male R&B/pop artist, best video (Loyal) and best collaboration (New Flame, with Usher and Rick Ross). Lamar is up for two awards, including best male hip-hop artist and the Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award (i).

Actress/singer Zendaya and Michael B. Jordan (the upcoming Fantastic Four) will be on hand as presenters. Black-ish co-stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson will host.
