Keith Richards solo set due in September
On Sept. 18, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards will release Crosseyed Heart, his first solo album since 1992.
Trouble, the album's first single, will come out July 17, two days after the Stones complete their Zip Code tour in Quebec City. The album also includes a duet with Norah Jones called Illusion.
Richards produced the 15-track album with drummer Steve Jordan, co-writing many of the songs with him. The album's core band also includes guitarist Waddy Wachtel, keyboardist Ivan Neville and background singer Sarah Dash.
"I had a ball making this new record and working with Steve Jordan and Waddy Wachtel again," Richards said via a news release. "There's nothing like walking into a studio and having absolutely no idea what you're going to come out with on the other end. If you're looking for Trouble, you've come to the right place."
Guests on the album include Aaron Neville, who contributes vocals to Nothing on Me; pedal steel player Larry Campbell on Robbed Blind; songwriter and keyboardistSpooner Oldham on Lovers Plea; and, on Amnesia and Blues in the Morning, the late Bobby Keys, who played saxophone with the Stones for more than 30 years until his death in December.
Richards has released two other solo studio albums, 1988's Talk Is Cheap and 1992's Main Offender, as well as a live album entitled Live at the Hollywood Palladium, December 15, 1988.
