Brooks recuts 'Friends' with Strait, others

Twenty-five years after Friends in Low Places sent Garth Brooks' career into overdrive, the country superstar has recorded a new version, with some friends in higher places. George Strait, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean and Keith Urban have recorded a silver-anniversary rendition of the song with Brooks. Brooks' publicist confirmed the new recording, first reported in Billboard, on Thursday.

Brooks had hinted at the project on August 19, when he told SiriusXM's The Highway host Storme Warren that he had been "visiting old friends and making new friends" during a tour hiatus.

Released in August 1990, Friends in Low Places spent four weeks atop Billboard's country singles chart beginning that October. It won single-of-the-year awards from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.
