Playlist: What's 5 Seconds of Summer listening to?
If you need a reminder, 5 Seconds of Summer isn't next in line for One Direction's boy-band throne. Instead, the Aussie heartthrobs are more natural heirs to punk group Good Charlotte, whose Joel and Benji Madden co-wrote some of 5SOS's second album, Sounds Good Feels Good (out Oct. 23). Guitarist/singer Michael Clifford queues up an eclectic mix of favorites for Paste BN, ranging from pop-rock to R&B.
Ain't No Rest For The Wicked, Cage the Elephant
It's got a cool dirty vibe where I can picture myself chewing hay.
Naïve, The Kooks
Good songwriting and great voice — cool band.
Take Me Out, Franz Ferdinand
Awesome festival band. Just makes you want to go to a gig.
Cash Cow, We Are Scientists
Great tempo, a bit of a toe-tapper!
Get Over It, OK Go
Love how the beat is so simple and the chorus so uplifting. Awesome track.
Zero, Chris Brown
Get me to the club ASAP.
Weapon of Choice, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Heard it in a bar where I was getting a sandwich and Shazam-ed it. Instantly fell in love
Drown, Bring Me the Horizon
We performed this on Radio 1 Live Lounge in the United Kingdom and we love the track. We had a string quartet and put our own spin on it.
Lane Boy, Twenty One Pilots
Love the concept of (their) record, Blurryface.
Champagne Supernova, Oasis
Massive band, massive songs. Everyone knows the words even if you don't know the band. Says it all.
