Drake is Spotify's most-streamed artist of 2015
Adele may have ruled supreme over 2015 album sales, but Drake was the king of streaming.
The rapper was Spotify's most-streamed artist of 2015, with his January mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late topping the list of the U.S.'s most-streamed albums.
Globally, the top album was the Weeknd's Beauty Behind The Madness, while Lean On by Major Lazer ft. MO & DJ Snake was the most-streamed song. For U.S. listeners, Fetty Wap's breakout hit Trap Queen topped the songs list.
Ed Sheeran was the second most-streamed artist — he placed first in 2014 — followed by The Weeknd, Maroon 5 and Kanye West. Rihanna was the most-streamed female artist globally.
Given the unprecedented sales of Adele's 25 — the album shattered first-week records with 3.4 million albums sold — it's likely the British singer would've leapfrogged towards the top of Spotify's year-end charts. However, Adele chose not to make 25 available on streaming services, though the artist hinted it may stream in the future.
