The legendary Bob Dylan turns 75
One of the most revered artists of our time is celebrating a major milestone today.
Bob Dylan, who just gifted us with his 37th studio album, the interpretive Fallen Angels – a follow-up to 2015's Shadows In the Night – turns 75 today. And the times, they are a changin' – for his birthday, fans turned Dylan into a trending topic, with 'Happy 75th' rising on Twitter Tuesday morning.
It was his second social media wave in two days thanks to Kesha, who performed a haunting rendition of Dylan's It Ain't Me Babe on Sunday's Billboard Music Awards. On Monday, Kesha flew to Nashville to sing what Billboard called an emotional I Shall Be Released at Dylan Fest, a two-day concert dedicated to the folk-rock icon on his 75th birthday. Emmylou Harris, Ruby Amanfu and Moon Taxi were among other acts announced to perform at Dylan Fest.
Are you an ultimate Dylan fan? Add Oklahoma to your travel plans. In March, more than 6,000 items of memorabilia from the singer/songwriter, including handwritten lyrics toTangled Up In Blue and his first contract with a music publisher, found a home at the University of Tulsa.
The archives from Dylan's six-decade career, acquired by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and the University of Tulsa for between $15 million and $20 million, also include early recordings from 1959 and a wallet that contains Johnny Cash's former address and phone number.
Dylan kicks off a 27-date summer world tour with Mavis Staples on June 4.
