Red Hot Chili Peppers get confused for Metallica in Belarusian airport
Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea doesn't look much like his Metallica counterpart Robert Trujillo, though that didn't keep customs officials in a Belarusian airport from mixing up the two.
Currently on tour with his band in Europe, Flea recounted in an Instagram posting on Saturday what happened when they landed, got called into an office at the airport and subsequently were asked to sign a bunch of Metallica CDs and photos.
"We tried to explain to them that we weren't Metallica but they insisted that we sign anyway. They had the power," Flea said in the social-media post, which shows the bassist writing his own name in the white margins of the publicity photos.
Flea reminded fans of the time he sat in with Metallica on the song Fight Fire with Fire at a 2008 benefit concert, but added that "I'm no Robert Trujillo."
The Chili Peppers, who released their newest studio effort The Getaway last month, stop in Chicago on July 30 for Lollapalooza and continue their international tour through November.
