No Taylor Swift album in October, tweets her label head
Taylor Swift's label boss has a four-letter response to fans hoping for a 1989 follow-up this fall: Nope.
Scott Borchetta, president and CEO of the singer's label, Big Machine, responded to a since-deleted tweet from a Swift fan asking him to comment on rumors that she'd release a new album this October.
"NOPE," he wrote in all caps.
Based on Swift's discography, fans had a reason to believe she'd release new music this autumn. Check out the timing of her five studio album releases on Big Machine: Taylor Swift in October 2006; Fearless in November 2008; Speak Now in October 2010; Red in October 2012; and 1989 in October 2014.
Since her self-titled debut in 2006, Swift's studio albums have followed a consistent pattern, arriving every other year in either October or November. With 1989's release two autumns ago in 2014, a new Swift record this year would fall right in line with this schedule.
Is Borchetta speaking truth to Swift's claims to Vogue in May that she would "live my life a little bit" away from music, or is he just trying to shake fans off? Come October, we'll find out.
