Chance the Rapper, Tool to headline Governors Ball music festival

A day after Coachella unveiled its Beyoncé-fronted lineup, another major music festival has announced a starry roster.

Chance the Rapper, French band Phoenix and '90s rockers Tool will play Governors Ball, held at New York's Randall's Island Park June 2-4. Although Chance has been all over the festival circuit lately — in support of last year's Grammy-nominated Coloring Book — the headlining sets could signal new music for the latter two artists, neither of whom have released albums in three years or more (Phoenix, with 2013's Bankrupt!; and Tool, with 10,000 Days in 2006).

Other notable acts heading to Governors Ball include Lorde, whose sophomore album is expected this spring; Childish Gambino, the music alter ego of actor/writer Donald Glover; and Rae Sremmurd, who have the No. 1 song in the country right now with viral hit Black Beatles. Wiz Khalifa, Tove Lo, Wu-Tang Clan, Flume, Charli XCX, Cage the Elephant, Beach House, and Logic will also be on hand for the three-day fest.

Governors Ball made headlines last summer when its third day, headlined by Kanye West, was canceled due to inclement weather. The rapper proceeded to try and play a "pop-up" show in Manhattan later that night, drawing thousands of fans and police presence.

Festival producer Founders Entertainment later announced a "makeup" event, last October's The Meadows Music & Arts Festival in Queens, N.Y.  The inaugural fest became similarly newsworthy when West left the stage mid-show, after his wife, Kim Kardashian West, was robbed at gunpoint in Paris.
