'Look What You Made Me Do': Taylor Swift is the first woman with a No. 1 single in 2017

Taylor Swift just earned a historic No. 1 song.

Swift's new single Look What You Made Me Do debuted on top of Billboard's Hot 100 singles charts Tuesday (charts dated Sept. 16), following its first full week of release.

Look unseats Despacito as America's No. 1 song, denying Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber a 17th straight week at the top of the charts, which would've broken the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 in Hot 100 history.

The new song, Swift's first single from her forthcoming sixth album Reputation (out Nov. 10), also becomes the first single by a female artist to go No. 1 on the Hot 100 this year.

Before Look's big premiere, every artist to score a No. 1 hit in 2017 has been male, with 11 all-male songs in a row topping the Hot 100. The last woman to hit No. 1 solo was Sia with Cheap Thrills on Aug. 27, 2016, with the Chainsmokers' Halsey-featuring Closer topping the singles charts later that year.

Earlier this year, Swift fell just short of topping the Hot 100, with I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker) reaching No. 2.
