Manager: Chyna's brain to be donated to concussion research

The brain of Iconic pro-wrestling champion and WWE wrestler Chyna will be donated to concussion research, according to her manager.

Chyna, whose name was Joan Marie Laurer, was found dead at her California apartment last week.

She struggled with addiction in the past, and likely died from an accidental overdose after taking a prescription sleeping pill and a tranquilizer, her manager, Anthony Anzaldo told AP Wednesday.

Anzaldo said Chyna’s brain will be donated to Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic pathologist whose discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy was the subject of the movie Concussion, AP reported.

Anzaldo told AP he does not believe that Chyna suffered any brain injuries from wrestling.

While Laurer’s death was reported to the Los Angeles County coroner’s department as a possible overdose, the department has not released a cause of death, pending toxicology tests, which could take weeks.
