Fatboy Slim: Trip Advisor ‘vendetta’ harmed my cafe

The DJ said he wants negative comments about his cafe in England removed.

BRIGHTON, England—  Fatboy Slim has blamed a “vendetta” for bad reviews at his cafe.

The DJ, real name Norman Cook, told the Daily Mail that he was trying to have negative comments left on review site Trip Advisor about the Big Beach Cafe at Hove Lagoon removed.

“We’re trying to get TripAdvisor to take down the comments on the grounds that they’re a vendetta," he said.

Sixty three out of 129 reviews on the site rated the cafe as poor or terrible.

Negative reviews left over the past six months accused the venue of being dirty and having disorganized staff.

“This greasy cafe is dirty, messy and in serious need of an update. The staff are seriously overworked," one TripAdvisor reviewer moaned about Big Beach Cafe.

But elsewhere on the site the cafe wins plaudits, with one person commenting: “We all love it. It has a real community feel.”

There is concern about the validity of reviews on sites such as TripAdvisor, with suggestions some businesses have been ruined by fake negative feedback.
