‘Smell of poo': Moms are loving this 'Shape of You' parody video

A mom's parody video of Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You' is getting a lot of attention for showing the messy side of parenting.

Sophie McCartney (yes, Paul is her second cousin!) changed Sheeran's lyrics to reflect how mom life has wreaked havoc on her body and sanity in a video posted on Facebook on Wednesday. 

"I can't believe it's at nearly 10M views on Facebook in just 24 hours," McCartney said in an email.

In the video, McCartney of North West, England, shows scenes from her day with son Jack and daughter Evelyn — feeding, changing diapers and trying to fit into her jeans. 

She flips the lyrics and gets real in the chorus: 

"I gag at the smell of poo, at the sight of vomit, too. And even though my heart loves you, I’m annoyed by the things you do. Last night you were in my room and now my bedsheets smell like poo. Every day discovering something brand new. What have you done to my body?"

McCartney, who authors the parenting blog Tired 'N Tested, told Paste BN she's been inundated with reactions from moms who can relate. 

"Generally everyone is just thrilled that they aren't alone in their daily parenting struggles," she said. 

Paul even "loved it," she said.

"[He] was very impressed and thinks he has a very talented little cousin," McCartney said. "Also, wondered whether my bed sheets actually smell of poo."

McCartney believes Sheeran's management has seen the video, but is unsure if he's watched it yet.
