Seth Meyers elects to love fashion

Back in June, Seth Meyers left his Weekend Update post at Saturday Night Live to perform at the CFDA awards. And he did so wearing the lace Comme Des Garçons dress designer Marc Jacobs had worn to the Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum.

Color Meyers impressed. "When you put something like that on, you think it's ridiculous, but it's so well made. The fabric lies against your body so well. It's almost a shame I don't live in a world where I can wear it," says Meyers.

At the show, he roasted some of fashion's biggest names, a crowd not known for having the most well-developed sense of humor about itself. "It's fun to do a gig that's known for its high level of difficulty, and it goes well," says Meyers, who had a great time.

Now, it's back to his night job on SNL, where the cast — Jason Sudeikis as Mitt Romney and Jay Pharoah as Barack Obama — takes aim at the presidential race.

"This stuff only works, no matter what your politics, if people like to see the candidate. With Tina (Fey) as Sarah Palin, the character transcended the candidate. You have to treat them with respect and try to pull comedy from things they've said and done and leave space for performers to be performers," says Meyers.
