Miley Cyrus updates 'do for Big Apple family reunion

Miley Cyrus is stepping out in the Big Apple ahead of a birthday milestone.

On Nov. 23, the actress and singer turns 20 and the celebration has begun.

With a new twist to her cropped hair style (shorter bangs and lighter shade all over), she managed to send out a message to Twitter followers about the reception she received in New York on Nov. 19: "What a dope morning. So many fans outside my hotel this a.m. in NYC. If there's this much chaos NOW imagine when I drop this record!"

The tweet followed her stop Sunday backstage at the Broadway production of Chicago, in which dad Billy Ray Cyrus plays Billy Flynn. Also making the stop: Miley's mom, Tish, brother Braison and sisters Noah and Brandi.
