Katie Holmes smiles big on Broadway opening night

The critics may be meh, but Katie Holmes clearly felt the audience's love on opening night of her new Broadway show, Dead Accounts.

Cradling a bouquet of roses and clad in her character's mousy jeans-and-cardigan costume, Holmes grinned wider than we've seen in a long while during curtain call Thursday night. The smile was even more Miss America at the play's after-party, where Holmes's parents, as well as Brooke Shields, Maggie Grace and Lily Rabe, toasted her.

What did Paste BN's Elysa Gardner say about Holmes's performance? "You can't help but wonder what a slightly more mature, nuanced actress might have brought to the role."
