Mary-Kate, Ashley Olsen launch fragrances
Life smells like violets and vanilla for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
The twin sisters are launching two fragrances for women, Nirvana White and Nirvana Black, through their Elizabeth and James brand. The two scents will be sold at Sephora in December.
They spent nearly two years developing the perfumes and, as with everything, were very particular. The sisters knew when something was off.
"What I realized is, I have a really strong nose," Mary-Kate Olsen told Paste BN.
The Olsens have emerged as quite a Seventh Avenue powerhouse. They were named the womenswear designer of the year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for their upscale brand The Row, sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.
And their Elizabeth and James line, which is more casual and affordable, is also doing well. For Mary-Kate Olsen, the ultimate would be walking down the street and smelling their fragrance on someone, she says.
Seeing a woman wear their clothing, meanwhile, "always feels like the first time."
Next up, they plan on opening actual retail stores, "and see where it goes from there," she says.
