Celebs: Legendary pairings, blond ambition
Paste BN's Arienne Thompson digs through the latest celebrity news for highlights ... and lowlights. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Duchess Kate and Miley Cyrus were classmates.
Most #SorryNotSorry response to controversy: Sean Penn
Penn made headlines at the Oscars last month when he made a green card joke about Oscar-winning Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who is Mexican. But you won't catch Penn apologizing for the comment, which some found offensive. "I have absolutely no apologies. In fact, I have a big (expletive) you for … anybody who is so stupid not to have gotten the irony when you've got a country that is so xenophobic. If they had their way, you wouldn't have great filmmakers like Alejandro working in this country. Thank God we do." Message received.
Best dig at Kim Kardashian's new hair: Miley Cyrus
Miley wins the Internet for her funny dig at Kim Kardashian's new platinum blond locks. In a Photoshopped image posted on her Instagram account, Cyrus, with a confused look on her face, pretended to apply hair dye on a sobbing Kim K. Guess that means Miley is #TeamBrunette.
Blondest transformation for a movie role: Jared Leto
Speaking of blond moments, have you seen Leto lately? He cut off his signature long locks and beard and dyed his hair platinum last week (he'll be playing The Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad). But now he's gone a step further. His eyebrows are outta here. And, before you ask, no they're not blond — they've just been shaved off.
Best Hammer pants in a vintage video: Ryan Gosling
The tween version of Gosling went viral when a video from 1992 showed him dancing his little heart out ... in a pair of sweet, era-appropriate M.C. Hammer parachute pants. In the clip, he's joined by a group of dancers, but it's clear he's the
real star of the show. The actor was quick to poke fun at himself, tweeting, "obviously I peaked early." And, obviously all of that Mickey Mouse Club training paid off.
Most dynamic duo for charity: John Legend and Sam Smith
Oscar winner Legend and Grammy god Smith together on one song? Yes, please! The epically gifted duo teamed up for Lay Me Down, a track being used as the official song for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. In a video of them in the studio, Legend says, "We've been looking forward to working together for a while now." Um, ditto. Now, if we could just get them to go on tour together...
Prettiest pregnant princess in pink: Duchess Kate
Kate Middleton continues her reign as maternity style master. On March 9, she attended the Commonwealth Day Service At Westminster Abbey looking perfect in head-to-toe pink. She wore a pink fascinator, clutch, pumps and a prim coat with adorable pearl buttons. Perhaps she's trying to tell us something about the new royal baby due later this spring!
