Celeb superlatives: Beyoncé, The Rock, Swift
Paste BN's Kelly Lawler digs through the latest celebrity news, giving thumbs-up or eye rolls to those who earned them. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Beyoncé and Prince Harry were classmates.
Cutest anniversary present: Beyoncé to Jay Z
As if we needed another reminder that Beyoncé is the Queen Bey. The superstar released a new song, Die With You, on April 4, her and hubby Jay Z's seventh anniversary. The song and very intimate video are exclusively available on Tidal, Jay Z's new music streaming service. In the video Beyoncé accompanies herself on piano for the song (yup, she can play piano too!) and the video is as sweet as you'd expect, with lyrics like "Darling I wake up just to sleep with you, I open my eyes so I could see with you, and I live so I can die with you." At the end Jay Z turns the hand-held camera to show his own gigantic smile.
Most royal welcome: Prince Harry in Australia
What better way to welcome a famously ginger prince to your homeland than with a banner that says "Redheads RULE!"? Prince Harry arrived in Australia Monday, and received a thoroughly royal welcome. The fourth in line to the British throne (soon to be fifth in line, once Royal Baby No. 2 makes an appearance!) shook hands and mingled with the assembled crowd. But it wasn't all fun and games. The prince is down under for a month-long attachment to the Australian army.
Best party-thrower: Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has a whole slew of best friends, and considering the lengths she goes to for them, it's no wonder. The singer surprised her childhood best friend Abigail Anderson at her 25th birthday party with a performance from Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba. Carrabba sang the band's hit Hands Down, which features the thematically appropriate lyrics "Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember." Anderson seemed pleased with the whole thing, posting on Instagram: "Thank you Taylor Swift & all of my incredible friends & family for making my 25th birthday the most magically memorable night I've ever had. #SeeYouGuysAtFifty."
Most inspirational: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to Instagram on Easter Sunday to tell an amazing story of his encounter with a cancer survivor. He explained that he was out and "this kid runs up to me, hugs the hell outta me and says it's been his life's dream to meet me and tell me how much I've inspired him to fight cancer." After telling the story of his encounter, the Rock had this message for his fans: "As I'm drivin' I start shaking my head (and tearing up) at how fragile life is and how amazing and cool the universe was to make this meeting happen between myself and this special kid Nick Miller. Let's always take a moment to count our blessings.. cause there's always something to be grateful for. Happy Easter y'all."
Best tribute to a late friend: Whiz Khalifa to Paul Walker
Whiz Khalifa pays tribute to Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in 2013, in his latest music video for See You Again. The video for the sentimental song from the Furious 7 soundtrack, Walker's final film, features Whiz rapping emotionally as clips of Walker flash across the screen. It's just one of many tributes to the late actor from those involved in the film. Walker died in the middle of filming the seventh installment of the Furious action franchise.
Most welcome crasher: Norman Reedus
Everybody loves The Walking Dead, including Saturday Night Live's "Resident Young Person" Pete Davidson, who stopped by the Weekend Update Desk to chat about the show. And it turns out that there are quite a few similarities between a very stoned Davidson and an actual zombie (bloodshot eyes, complexion, gait). In fact there are so many similarities that surprise guest Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl on The Walking Dead, mistakes him for a zombie and shoots Davidson right in the chest. But don't worry, he was a welcome party crasher, and the arrow didn't seem to hurt Davidson that much.
