50 Cent explains bankruptcy on 'Conan'

After filing for bankruptcy Monday, shocking fans and launching a humorous social media conversation, 50 Cent is speaking out about his decision again.

The rapper, 40, went on Conan Wednesday night, to promote his role in the upcoming film Southpaw, and the host had to ask him about the filing.

"Yeah, I need protection," 50 Cent explained to Conan. "You get a bullseye painted on your back when you're successful, and it's public, you become the ideal person for lawsuits."

Conan did note that the rapper seemed to be doing pretty OK, despite the bankruptcy, and noted a recent Instagram photo the rapper posted:

"Times are hard out here, for real," 50 Cent responded, He continues, "That picture was actually taken by Jake Gyllenhaal. ... Total empty parking lot, so he took the picture."
