'Bachelorette,' fiancé give first interview
After last night's Bachelorette season finale, which ended with Kaitlyn Bristowe getting engaged to contestant Shawn Booth, the happy couple appeared on Good Morning America for their first public interview, chatting about Monday night's most emotional moments, their future plans and more.
Called "the most controversial Bachelorette ever," Kaitlyn shared with GMA's Lara Spencer that she'd had a good feeling about Shawn "from day one," choosing him over Shawn's fellow finalist Nick Viall.
"I think they try and confuse you, but the whole time I just kept being like, 'Nope! Still thinking about Shawn,'" she said.
Kaitlyn shared her amusement at the finale's dramatic moment where, after getting rejected, Nick threw an engagement ring meant for Kaitlyn across a car.
"Were you as surprised as we all were watching it?" Spencer asked.
"Uh...no!" Kaitlyn said, laughing. "I thought it was kind of funny. A weak toss."
"I would have done overhand," Shawn joked.
While Shawn and Kaitlyn have kept their engagement under wraps for the months since he popped the question on the Bachelorette finale, the couple don't have wedding plans set in stone just yet, telling Spencer they plan to see their families and scope out potential new hometowns before they start making future plans.
"We're really excited to be engaged and be cute," Kaitlyn said. "It makes little things more exciting now to be out and public and just go get coffee."
And the couple is in complete agreement about who should be the next Bachelor.
I think we both agree: Ben H," Kaitlyn said.
"He's the guy, for sure," Shawn agreed.
