Schumer on gun violence fight: 'I'm on it'
Rest assured, that broken-hearted tweet from Amy Schumer was not all she has to say about gun violence following the July 23 shooting at a Lafayette, La., movie theater showing her comedy Trainwreck.
On Saturday, the actress responded Saturday to an open letter from Sarah Clements, pleading for her to do more. (The writer's mother survived the 2012 shooting at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisc.)
"I know deep down that the tweet you sent after the shooting was not all that you've got," Clements wrote, "And we need your voice in this movement. We need your help."
She called upon Schumer to write an op-ed piece, get involved with an organization and to be a voice for women, who account for so many of the victims of gun violence.
Schumer assured Clements and another Twitter user that she thinks about the women killed in Lafayette everyday (even going so far as to correct one of their names) and furthermore, "Don't worry, I'm on it."
