Actress Kelly Rutherford has lost custody of her two children, according to reports, and is further barred from bringing them to the United States.

A Monaco judge delivered a blow the the actress, who has long been fighting for her children in court, granting full custody of Hermes, 9, and Helena, 6, to Rutherford's ex-husband Daniel Giersch.

Now, she will only be able to visit her children in Monaco or France, says People.

The Washington Post reports that Rutherford, who founded the Children's Justice Campaign to help families with similar legal issues, told waiting paparazzi outside the Monaco courtroom that she "had no words."

When asked how she felt, Rutherford answered, "I think like any parent would feel."

The custody case caused a media flurry this August when Rutherford failed to send her children back to Giersch, who resides in Monaco, after they spent the summer with the former Gossip Girl star in New York.

"I have decided that I cannot lawfully send my children away from the United States to live in a foreign country," she wrote in a statement at the time.

A Manhattan Supreme Court judge disagreed, ordering the actress to return her two children to their father abroad.

Rutherford continued to push back in the media, calling the ruling a "forced exile" in a statement to Paste BN. "My children ask me all the time if I am still fighting for them, and I always tell them the day will never come when I say 'no,'" she wrote.
