Judge sets May court date for Cosby

A Pennsylvania judge has set a May 24 court date for the ongoing sex-assault case against Bill Cosby.

On Monday, a superior court in Pennsylvania rejected Bill Cosby's appeal, lifting a hold on criminal trial proceedings.

On Tuesday, a judge set a 9:30 AM ET start time for a preliminary hearing on May 24 the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Cosby, 78, is facing trial over an encounter at his home with ex-Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004. Constand said Cosby drugged and raped her; Cosby said the encounter was consensual.

Back in February, Cosby's legal team had attempted to dismiss the charges of aggravated indecent assault against their client. His lawyers argued that the comedian had an immunity deal a decade ago with the then-district attorney not to prosecute in return for testifying fully in a deposition for a civil suit filed by Constand.

But a Montgomery County judge rejected that motion, and on Monday an appeals court likewise ruled that the criminal sex-assault case against Cosby can proceed.

Cosby is expected to attend the court proceedings.
