Judi Dench got herself inked for 81st birthday

Helen Mirren is no longer the only tattooed lady in the Most Excelllent Order of the British Empire.

Dame Judi Dench, the cover girl for the July issue of Britain's Surrey Life  Magazine, confessed that she got her personal motto, "Carpe Diem," tattooed on the inside of her right wrist as an 81st birthday gift from daughter Flinty, reports The Telegraph.

The star of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films, which told the stories of British retirees reinventing themselves in India, had previously considered  getting a symbol from that country instead but evidently thought better of it.

"One of the cameramen who worked on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel  told me what it meant, but I'm a bit nervous in case I'm being set up — it might be unbelievably rude," she worried during an interview with the U.K. edition of Good Housekeeping.

"Carpe diem" might have been a safer choice but it still prompted teasing from the co-stars of the play she was working on: "Mind you, the company of A Winter's Tale, which I was doing at the time, used to say that it said fish of the day."
