Celeb superlatives: Lochte's still a mess
Paste BN’s Andrea Mandell digs through the latest celebrity news for highlights ... and lowlights. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Justin Timberlake and Ryan Lochte were classmates.
Best casual appearance among mortals: Thor and Loki
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) recently reunited on the streets of Brisbane, Australia, to the delight of the watching public. The two Marvel stars are together again thanks to Thor: Ragnarok, due in November 2017. Hemsworth kept their homecoming casual on Instagram: "Just sellin papers with my mate," he wrote, posting a funny photo from the set. Guess who's the baddie in Thor's life this time around? Most likely to be your surprise Stanford professor: Tyra Banks
You read that right. The supermodel, who has been busy these past few years attending Harvard Business School's extension program and launching her own cosmetics line (and welcoming a son), is heading to Stanford. According to the The Wall Street Journal, for two weeks next May, M.B.A. students at Stanford University will be able to opt in for a class with Banks. What's she teaching? Best in boy drama: Vin Diesel
What's the latest in the feud between Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? (To recap, The Rock mysteriously called out several of his Fast 8 co-stars in an Instagram post, and reports speculated he was targeting Diesel). Now it seems Diesel is trying to make good, saying in a Facebook Live post that fans had made The Rock's role possible in the franchise, adding that his "role that was originally written for Tommy Lee Jones, we gave it to Dwayne and he shined in it.” Let's see how that goes over.
Most likely to start an international scandal at the Olympics: Ryan Lochte
Oh, Ryan. The Olympics may be over, but the swimmer is still embroiled in post-Games drama, thanks to his ever-changing story about what happened the night he said he was robbed. "I made that up," he told People. "The part that I made up was saying that it was a robbery. I think the word 'robbery' shocked a lot of people, and the story went viral after that. A gun was pulled, and we had to give them cash. If I didn't say 'robbery,' none of this would have happened." Lochte now admits he was drunk and doesn't remember much of the night, calling his actions "immature" and "stupid." With endorsements fleeing (Speedo pulled away Monday), Lochte said he's not done apologizing: "I feel like let down a lot of people."
Most likely to pinch-hit for Leonardo DiCaprio: Justin Timberlake
When a scheduling conflict prevented DiCaprio from hosting his planned high-rolling Hollywood fundraiser for Hillary Clinton Aug. 23, guess who stepped in? That would be Timberlake and Jessica Biel. The A-list couple graciously moved the event to their house in Los Angeles. No word if J.T. will serenade the presidential candidate with a tailored version of SexyBack.
Best in pre-fall fashion: Renée Zellweger
Are you ready for the return of Bridget Jones? Zellweger is back on the promotion train, and she packed a suitcase of fall favorites to show off along the way. On Monday the actress stepped out in Australia for her first press event for Bridget Jones's Baby in a silk polka dot burgundy Gabriela Hearst shirtdress. Bridge, you're chic.
