Shailene Woodley pleads not guilty in Dakota Access Pipeline protest
Divergent star Shailene Woodley pleaded not guilty to criminal trespass and participating in a riot Wednesday, following her Oct. 10 arrest in North Dakota, where she was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The actress was not present in court; rather, she had attorney Alexander Reichert handle her plea.
Should Woodley be convicted, she could be looking at 60 days in jail and $3,000 in fines.
Protestors have backed the Standing Rock Sioux tribe's concerns that the $3.8 billion pipeline could taint their water supply and disturb tribal burial sites.
