Geri Halliwell denies Mel B's sexual encounter story: 'Simply not true' and 'very hurtful'

A representative for Geri Halliwell is disputing Spice Girl Melanie "Mel  B" Brown's claim that the two once had sex in the 1990s.

When asked about the long-rumored liaison last month by TV host Piers Morgan, Brown, who was known as Scary Spice in the girl group's heyday, nodded her confirmation –  in front of a studio audience that included their bandmate Melanie "Mel C" Chisholm, aka Sporty Spice.

In a statement on Monday, Halliwell's spokesman Alan Edwards told Paste BN, "She would like you to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family," noting, "It has been very disappointing to read about all these rumors again."

He added, "Geri can’t wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories."

Lim added that Halliwell, who married Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner in 2015, "loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria."

The day after Brown's explosive interview with Morgan, the "America's Got Talent" judge downplayed the revelation.

During a conversation with 2Day FM, Mel B stated: "I actually didn't really admit to anything ... I just admitted we had a little bit of a thing back in the day and that's it. It happened one night."

This summer, the Spice Girls will reunite – sans Victoria Beckham – for a tour, which kicks off May 31 in Manchester.
