All it requires is an old shirt or towel, a pair of scissors and a little bit of coordination.

DIY tug toy for dogs
Many dogs find comfort in the scent of their owners, so making a toy out of your old clothing for them to enjoy makes sense.
To make a no-sew, DIY tug toy:
- Cut an old shirt, blanket or towel into strips. Make sure it’s washed without fabric softener or scent boosters, ensure it’s 100% cotton and doesn’t have any logos or things printed on it.
- Cut a couple of strips of fabric the same length and a couple of inches thick. You may want to adjust the size of this depending on the size of your dog.
- Knot the fabric strips together at one end.
- Tightly braid the strips together.
- Tie it off at the end. Trim any excess fabric if necessary.
- Play with your pup!
Depending on the size of the toy and the tightness of the braid, you may even be able to tuck some of your dog’s favorite treats or kibble into the toy and let them work to get it out.
