How to make fried ice cream without oil
INGREDIENTS:
- Ice cream
- Cereal of choice (cornflakes or graham cereal work well for this recipe)
- Toppings of choice (whipped cream, chocolate sauce or sprinkles are great options)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Pour your favorite cereal onto a baking sheet and crush it. Don't crush the cereal too finely. You want to leave some texture to achieve the perfect crunch.
- Take a scoop of ice cream and coat with crushed cereal, mimicking the breading process.
- Once the ice cream is completely coated with crushed cereal, shape it into a round ball. Work quickly to help minimize melting. To further minimize melting you can wear gloves to prevent heat transfer from your hands. Alternatively, put the coated balls in the freezer periodically throughout the process.
- Place the coated ice cream balls in a covered container or muffin tin and freeze until solid. This process typically takes 2 to 3 hours, but it's best to check periodically to ensure they're thoroughly frozen.
- Once the ice cream balls are frozen, remove them from the freezer and add your favorite toppings. Get creative with chocolate sauce, whipped cream or sprinkles for a perfect sweet treat.
