Bruce Willis gets new Broadway co-star
Bruce Willis won't have Elizabeth Marvel to torment him (in character) on a Broadway stage this fall.
It was announced Tuesday that Marvel, who had been scheduled to co-star with Willis in his Broadway debut, a stage adaptation of Misery, has had to withdraw from the production due to scheduling conflicts.
The acclaimed theater actress is also known for playing an ambitious politician on Netflix's House of Cards. In Misery -- written by William Goldman, based on his screenplay for the film adaptation of Stephen King's famous novel -- Marvel would have played Annie Wilkes, the super-fan who rescues romance novelist Paul Sheldon, Willis's character, and proceeds to hold him captive.
She'll be replaced by another stage and screen veteran, Laurie Metcalf, a two-time Tony Award nominee whose TV credits include Roseanne and The Big Bang Theory.
Misery is set to begin performances October 22 at the Broadhurst Theatre, with an opening set for November 15.
