'Game of Thrones' to return April 6
PASADENA, Calif. — HBO's Game of Thrones is set to return April 6, Sundays at 9 ET/PT, HBO announced at the Television Critics Association winter conference Thursday. Its companions: Veep, starring Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, returning for a third season at 10, and Silicon Valley, a new series from Mike Judge (Office Space, KIng of the Hill), about a group of young tech-industry entrepreneurs.
The season's first Game trailer will be shown Sunday before the premiere of True Detective, a crime-thriller miniseries starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
In other HBO news, Boardwalk Empire will be back this fall for a fifth season, but that will mark the end of its run.
And The Leftovers, based on a novel by Tom Perrotta and produced by Damon Lindelof (Lost), will premiere this summer for a 10-episode season. The drama revolves around a small town in New York, three years after a rapture-like event in which millions disappear.
