Nova: Vaccines — Calling the Shots | PBS, 9 ET/PT (times may vary)

Television's premier science program examines vaccines: how they work, why they're important, and what has caused some people to forego vaccination. If you want to skip the special and go straight to the summary, here it is from Dr. Paul Offit of Philadelphia's Children's Hospital: "Those who choose not to vaccinate their children are making a bad and misinformed choice that puts not only their children at risk, but those with whom their children come in contact."

Modern Family | ABC, 9:30 ET/PT

If you're one of those still debating whether Modern Family should have won the best-comedy Emmy, here's a repeat that makes a strong case for the "yes" side. Near the end of a typically funny outing built around breaking past boundaries, a seemingly innocent discussion about Mitchell's upcoming wedding breaks through an emotional boundary and turns suddenly, surprisingly real. The episode reveals something we should have known was there all along — deep-seated hurt and resentment — without ripping the fabric of the series, which is a trick only the best shows can pull off.

Taxi Brooklyn | NBC, 10 ET/PT

The summer exits continue tonight, with this NBC cop drama and USA's Graceland both airing finales. Some of us will miss them — and some of us will continue to miss them.
