TV tonight: 'NCIS,' "Person of Interest,' 'Forever'

NCIS
CBS, 8 ET/PT
Television's most popular drama returns with its investigator heroes struggling to escape some mercenary pursuers and get back home from Russia. They'd better move quickly: they have a New Orleans spinoff they need to help launch.
Person of Interest
CBS, 10 ET/PT
This intriguingly eccentric CBS procedural returns for its fourth season with the team split and living under new identities, trying to avoid one all-powerful computer program while still assisting another. The bones of the old show remain, of course, but in many important ways, Person is a very different series than it was when it premiered — something to keep in mind before we dismiss some new fall entry too quickly and completely.
Forever
ABC, 10 ET/PT
This potentially enjoyable new ABC fantasy moves into its regular time slot as the immortal Henry helps the police prove that an assumed suicide actually was a murder. For those who watched the first episode, the time spent restating the premise tonight (a common practice in second outings) may prove frustrating — particularly as it's time that might have been better spent fleshing out the mystery. But if you stick with the episode, you'll find a twist that cleverly expands our understanding of the problems Henry faces, and that kind of expansion is less common than it should be.
