Weekend TV: 'Sweeney Todd: In Concert,' 'Brooklyn'

Sweeney Todd: In Concert with the New York Philharmonic
PBS, Friday, 9 ET/PT (times may vary)

The PBS Arts Fall Festival kicks off with this Live From Lincoln Center concert version of Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece. Bryn Terfel and Emma Thompson play the leading roles, but as in every Sweeney Todd production, Sondheim stars.

Once Upon a Time
ABC, Sunday, 8 ET/PT

Surely the minute those Frozen box-office numbers started rolling in you knew its characters would find their way into Once — as what once seemed to be a clever reworking of old fairy tales continues to morph into a cross-marketing tool for Disney projects. Georgina Haig, Elizabeth Lail and Scott Michael Foster join the cast Sunday as Elsa, Anna and Kristoff for a story designed to serve as a sequel to a film that really didn't feel like it needed one. Which, of course, has never stopped Hollywood from making one.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Fox, Sunday, 8:30 ET/PT

One of last season's best new series moves to Sunday with a typically funny episode that finds Jake returning to the squad after spending time on an undercover sting. It went well, but not well enough for Jake, an over-achiever – which is one of the wise twists this show, and star Andy Samberg, have put on a character you might have expected to be work averse.
