TV tonight: 'Bones,' 'Scandal,' 'Vampire Diaries'

Bones | Fox, 8 ET/PT
Who says TV writers can't keep a secret? Last season, Will's death caught us off guard on The Good Wife. Now, the death of John Francis Daley's Lance Sweets on Bones has done the same — and has stirred a similar grief-stricken reaction among fans. Tonight, in an outing appropriately called "The Lance to the Heart," the team works to identify his murderer while finding who's framing Booth for murder. All while burying Sweets, a character and a performance that will be much missed.
The Vampire Diaries | CW, 8 ET/PT
So what is life like in Mystic Falls without magic? Not so hot, apparently, as Elena is unhappy without Damon, Tyler is struggling with his old life as a human, and Alaric is struggling with his new life as a vampire. As for what Stefan is doing, that's a secret waiting to be revealed.
Scandal | ABC, 9 ET/PT
Over on one of TV's craziest hours, Fitz is working on his State of the Union address, while coping with the newfound attention Mellie's personal problems are getting. Clearly, it's not easy being the president on Scandal, but it could be worse: He could be the newly crowned king of France on Reign (CW, 9 ET/PT) and be facing the Black Plague —– and, if the show follows history, which it seldom does, death in about a year.
