Weekend TV: 'Survivor's Remorse,' 'Homeland'

Survivor's Remorse
Starz, Saturday, 9 ET/PT

LeBron James serves as one of the producers for this six-episode sitcom about a young basketball star (Jessie Usher) fighting not to be overwhelmed by the sudden arrival of riches and fame. At least he has a great mom: Tichina Arnold, from the still-mourned Everybody Hates Chris.

Madam Secretary
CBS, Sunday, 8:30 ET/8 PT

Tea Leoni's Secretary of State has trouble on two fronts as poorly guarded secrets are leaked — big ones in Pakistan, small ones in her own home. The solution to the big problem is the most complex the show has yet created, but the small problem at home has more of a ring of truth, perhaps because the parental byplay between Leoni and Tim Daly is one of the show's strongest early attributes.

Homeland
Showtime, Sunday, 9 ET/PT

This 2012 Emmy winner begins its attempt to convince wavering viewers to return after last year's extremely disappointing run. The good news is there are some positive signs in Sunday's two-hour opener: It sets up an interesting new crisis, one that may reestablish Carrie as a competent agent rather than an increasingly unhinged mess, and offers a view of Pakistan and the CIA that is more nuanced than most. The cautionary note? The show got off to a decent start last season, too, and we know how that went.
