TV tonight: 'Gotham,' 'Scorpion,' 'Supernatural' special

Gotham
Fox, 8 ET/PT
Gotham'snot-yet-Commissioner Gordon is clearly going to be a busy man tonight. He has to follow up on cat-teen Selina's claim that she knows who killed the Waynes while also catching a vigilante who is tying weather balloons around corrupt Gothamites, which in this show is pretty much everyone. And if that weren't headache enough, the man he was supposed to kill, the almost-Penguin, is back in town. Gotham already may be proving to be too dark, grim and violent for some — yet this new series has gone a good way toward establishing its own style and laying out its universe. That's pretty solid work for a few short weeks.
Scorpion
CBS, 9 ET/PT
Over at this promising CBS light-adventure, we get to see how the geniuses deal with their first failure, as they try to bounce back from a botched training mission. Odds are they'll do fine. Let's just hope they do so in a way that better defines some of the supporting characters, who remain a bit sketchy.
A Very Special Supernatural Special
CW, 9 ET/PT
In preparation for Tuesday's season return, this CW mainstay airs a one-hour salute to the previous nine seasons. Clips will be shown, stars will be interviewed and if newcomers are lucky, someone will explain what exactly is going on.
