Nature: Animal Misfits
PBS, 8 ET/PT (times may vary)

Nature launches its 33rd season with a look at unlikely creatures that seem ill-equipped to survive the modern age, yet stubbornly soldier on. Odds are we all know a few people in a few professions who feel the exact same way. Some of them are no doubt asking How We Got To Now, which happens to be the title of the PBS series that follows.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
NBC, 9 ET/PT

Benson deals with a deputy chief at SVU, played by Peter Gallagher, who is scheduled to begin a Broadway run in On the Twentieth Century later this season. With luck, he'll still be able to work in some guest shots in shows like SVU that are shot around New York. The Good Wife would be nice.

American Horror Story: Freak Show
FX, 10 ET/PT

The debut of this latest edition of AHS broke FX's ratings records — in the same week that the debut of AMC's equally gruesome (though less sexually intoxicated) The Walking Dead broke all cable records, period. The lesson could be that when real life seems scary, people retreat to a fictional world that is even scarier — which is good news for horror producers, because there never has been a time when real life hasn't been scary in one way or another.
