Sunday TV: 'Simpsons,' 'Good Wife,' 'Manhattan'
The Simpsons
Fox, Sunday, 8 ET/PT
Halloween is here — or at least it is on Fox, which offers four Halloween-themed episodes Sunday, starting with the 25th edition of The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror trilogy. One finds Bart and Lisa transported to an alternate universe; another stars Moe, Homer and Marge in a Simpsons version of A Clockwork Orange. But odds are fans are most looking forward to a twist on The Others that features a visit from the family's original, Tracey Ullman Show incarnations.
The Good Wife
CBS, Sunday, 9 ET/PT
Alicia has often been the beneficiary of the decidedly eccentric take on lawyering practiced by Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston, whose visits are always a seasonal highlight). This week, however, she goes up against Elsbeth in court, on the opposite side of a sex discrimination suit. And were that not trouble enough, Alicia's firm is being attacked by a hacker, just when she's trying to get her campaign off the ground. It sounds like a rough week for Alicia — but not for her still-on-fire series, which is as good as any show on the air these days, and far more entertaining than most. Proof once again that the two qualities are not mutually exclusive.
Manhattan
WGN America, Sunday, 10 ET/PT
This fine cable period drama wraps up its first season Sunday, but fans need not panic. It's returning for a second go.
