ABC's 'Agent Carter' arrives Jan. 6
Attention, Marvel fans. Agent Peggy Carter arrives to save the day in early January.
The eight-episode Marvel's Agent Carter (Jan. 6, 9 p.m. ET/PT) temporarily takes over the Tuesday time slot of a fellow Marvel series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will return March 3, ABC said in a midseason scheduling announcement released Wednesday.
Carter stars Hayley Atwell, who has played the Peggy character in two Captain America films, a video short and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Joining Atwell in the action drama are James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Glokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham as Chief Roger Dooley. Carter, set in 1946, finds the female agent marginalized after the war as she tries to deal with the loss of her love, Steve Rogers, and help Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) as he is being framed.
Galavant, which mixes musical comedy and fairy tales, premieres Jan. 4 (8 p.m. ET/PT) in the Once Upon a Time Sunday slot. The series features songs from composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. In the story, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) is seeking revenge and hoping to regain happiness after losing the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Once returns on March 1.
In addition, ABC's powerhouse Thursday lineup, which features the Shonda Rhimes-produced Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, will return Jan. 29, two months after the dramas' Nov. 20 fall finales.
